Matthew Siranian - Technology Education Teacher of the Year 2010

Matthew Siranian, Franklin High School: This year’s winner of the Technology Education Teacher of the Year is Matthew Siranian from Franklin High School. Siranian not only teaches three levels of woodworking, electricity technology, and architectural design but also has developed and implemented curriculum for all high school technology courses aligning them with national and state standards. He actively uses “differentiated instruction” methods and often integrates elements ofhis previous experience as a professional woodworker into his daily classroom routines. Describing the importance of his work, Siranian says, “The industrial arts /technology program is the nexus where all aspects ofthe curriculum converges ...”
